Low-Carbon Urban Mobility

The Institute for Energy and the Environment (IEMA – Instituto de Energia e Meio Ambiente), in the period from 2015 to 2018, will carry out the “Low-Carbon Urban Mobility in Big Cities” program, the result of commitments undertaken in the ambit of the Non-Reimbursable Investment Financing Agreement of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), entered into by the IEMA, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Ministry of Cities.

The program aims to develop technical tools and knowledge for planning and implementation of urban mobility systems that take into account the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, helping Brazil achieve the commitment of voluntary reduction of GHG emissions between 36.1% and 38.9%, considering the levels projected for the year 2020.
